So, with this research, I’m going to write an essay about being a college student, and specifically being an English major. I’m going to use my two interviews to discuss the difficulties of being a college student, specifically the adjustment that it takes to get used to college classes.
For example, Julie Stone grew up in Camden, Tennessee, and she loved going to Camden High School. She was involved with the girl’s basketball team, she cheered for the football team and she even got along with her teachers. And, she was good at high school. She took a lot of advanced class and made the honor roll almost every semester that she attended. However, when she moved on to attending college, specifically Tennessee Tech University, she thought it would be easy. Boy was she wrong. Instead, she realized that she was walking into a very different place. For instance, in high school, she would talk to her teachers and they all knew her by name. And, if she did forget to do some homework . . . no problem. She would be able to turn it in later that day (or maybe even the next day) without any penalty. But now most of her classes have over two hundred other students, so if she didn’t do her homework . . . that was a problem.
I’ll use my own experiences, too. That will transition into a discussion of why I’ve decided to become an English major, and I’ll include some of the professions that I can become involved in. However, the last part of my essay will center on what I want to become—a teacher (I don’t know at what level, yet)—and I’ll discuss the psychological aspects that teaching (and studying) English can provide to students.
